Guest Speaker Scott Sillett

Scott Sillett is a research wildlife biologist and head of the Migratory Bird Center, a research unit of the Smithsonian’s National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute in Washington, DC. He earned a B.A. from the University of Arizona in 1989, a M.S. from Louisiana State University in 1992, and a Ph.D. from Dartmouth College in 2000. Scott joined the Migratory Bird Center in 2002. Scott investigates how songbird populations are affected by variation in weather, habitat, predation, food, migration distance, and conspecific density throughout their annual cycle. In his spare time, Scott enjoys gardening, hiking, traveling, fishing, astronomy, reading, and, of course, birdwatching. He lives in Takoma Park, Maryland with his wife.
